A Night on the Town: Wakefield

Being a student is without a doubt challenging, especially when you are studying for your A levels. Yes it is important to revise for each of your subjects, however have you ever felt the need to just let your head down and experience something new? How about a night on the town; a night to indulge in Wakefield's vibrant night life.

Wakefield has a varied and very dynamic nightlife, with many clubs, bars and gig venues, situated across the Westgate run. I am sure there is something in Wakefield to tickle everyone's fancy. Monday night is student night, which is particularly popular amongst 18-25's. This is a great night for a lively atmosphere, cheap drinks and a chance to get your groove on. Most clubs, pubs and bars offer students various discounts on beverages or entry fees, so it's a good inexpensive way to experience the Wakefield nightlife. In addition, there is an abundance of clubs and bars, on the Westgate run, all playing various genres of music, such as electro, R&B, dance and rock, so they will be plenty of chances to get on down!

If you are really into clubbing, the most popular clubs for most students in Wakefield are Buzz and Havana. These both offer students low entry fees and great music, to keep you moving on your feet all night! Buzz is a quirky house like venue, which is split into various rooms, which all play different genres of music, from electro and chart hit remixes. Furthermore, if you are more into Rock and Heavy metal, there is a tunnel of rock! It is clear that if you have a good taste in music, Buzz is the place for you.

Havana, on the other hand, plays more electro and dance style music. When it comes to the holiday season, and most students are up for a night out, Havana launches themed parties, to get the celebrations in full swing. Havana is well known for their themed parties, which are mostly fancy dress, as they invite well known Djs and performers, to star at their venue.

Bars and pubs in Wakefield are best suited for those who prefer a much quieter atmosphere, where you can easily socialise amongst friends and play a game of pool or darts. Some students begin their evening in these venues, as they offer reasonably priced beverages and pub food, to kick the night off. The Inns pub seems to be one of the most popular pubs amongst six form students, as most of the pubs' customers are from a younger generation. The beverages are reasonably priced, which is good for the usual tight student budget!

Why don't you try the nightlife out for yourself?
