Welcome to our first edition

Editors
To our readers,
I am very excited to present you with the first edition of our Newspage, and I hope you enjoy reading about all the issues and events we have reported on. We have worked really hard this past 6 weeks to get a strong team, research our articles, and get them all done, and so I consider it to be a great achievement that we have managed to finish it: and for it to now be here for all of you to read.
For our first issue, we tried to cover a range of topics, so that there is something for everyone, but if you feel you would like to see something in our next issue that we have not covered, then please email: the_grange@hotmail.co.uk. We’d love to hear from you, and you don’t have to leave your name or anything like that, it’s completely up to you.
I’m sure all of you in Years 7-11 are used to the new uniform now, but what did you think when you first got it? As some of you may know, sixth form are being put in a new dress code as of this September. As a result of this, one of our sixth form journalists, Ellie Smith, has worked with our youngest Photographer: Robert Lister, and is in the process of reporting on the whole debate. As well as this, we have a review of the Wakefield Wildcats vs Catalan Dragons game. That was a very exciting day, I personally went along with the reporter and photographer that were working on this article, Keiran Lacy and Annie Wigglesworth, and we were treated to a room and balcony above the press area. We had a great view, and I loved supporting the Wildcats as they won their second game of the season.
In addition to all of this, our youngest journalist, Debra Chown of Year 8, has managed to get an interview with one of the candidates for Youth Parliament, and so if you want to check it out, it may sway your vote! There is also a link to all the videos that the candidates had to do to state their case for being elected on that page, so you can see all of the other candidates and their cases too. Emily and Danielle have also done some great reviews of the latest DVD releases, and that may help anyone who is wanting to buy a DVD as a gift for mothers day.
Plus, we have two band reviews – both of which are bands within college: one in Year 10 and one in Year 13. Both Nicole Stewart-Rushworth and Adam Bradbury did separate pieces, and they have both given fantastic reviews, so its worth checking out the bands and what our reporters think of them.
We have also had a young journalist writing on the current controversy surrounding the England captaincy, and how he thinks this will affect our chances at this years much anticipated world cup. If you are interested in football and will be supporting England this summer, its definitely worth a read.
Along with this, is an article about the new series of skins kicking off, and how it effects young people in relation to the way it presents drugs and other issues – give it a read, and again email us what you think.
As you can probably tell, we have worked incredibly hard to make this happen, and we really hope you enjoy reading it all. We shall be bringing out a new edition every two weeks, so make sure you don’t miss the next one – and I can give you a sneak peak about one of our articles – it involves London Fashion Week! Something to look forward to, but for now, please take a look, and let us know what you think via our email address. Thanks!
