Interview with Disciple 32
by Adam Bradbury
I recently talked to a local Wakefield band called Disciple 32. At a first glance, the trio don’t amount to much, but put them on a stage, and arm them with their musical weapons, and it’s easy to see why they are quickly making a name for themselves.
Disciple 32 - Phil, Samir and Laura
Vocalist and Bass player of the trio, Samir Hamrouni, says the bands best performance so far, was their recent gig at the Wakefield, “WFone”. Although the group always manage to pull off a solid performance each time, it seems that the band manage to always better their previous performance.
It seems that the power of the performance has its roots in the individual influences of each band member, for example, Phil is greatly influenced by the works of Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin which can be heard in his guitar playing, whilst Laura has more modern tastes in Muse and Incubus. Of course the influences of all 3 band members are contrasting to each other, and yet it works in a way that creates a refreshing addition to the Wakefield Music Scene.
Talking to the band about the year ahead, the drummer Laura Williams reveals that a small tour is planned for the Easter holidays, to which Samir adds a second, larger tour, is planned for the summer.
The band has an increasing list of gigs lined up around the Wakefield and Leeds area, and if you’re looking for a decent balance of good music, and good atmosphere then Disciple 32 is not to be missed!
